Embracing a New Chapter in Cornwall: Photography, Farm Life,  Finding Peace, and weddings!

Some of you might know that the past four years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for us. Amongst other things, our house was compulsory purchased for a new road development, turning our world upside down. But every cloud has a silver lining, and ours has led us to a fresh start in Cornwall! Yes, we’ve made the leap to a life surrounded by the sea, the countryside, and a whole new world of photographic opportunities. And fear not, my Essex clients! Our ties to Essex are still strong. We will be back often to capture your special moments, ensuring that the distance only makes our work together more special.

Cornwall, with its rugged cliffs, whispering waves, and gentle countryside, is more than just a place – it’s a feeling. A feeling of serenity, a connection with nature, and an endless source of inspiration. As a photographer, this move has been a dream come true. The dramatic coastline, the golden hours by the sea, and the quaint, rustic charm of farm life provide a canvas like no other.

Living on a farm in Cornwall is about to open up a whole new world for me. Embracing self-sufficiency, I’m gearing up for a daily learning adventure – from planning to grow our own veggies to eagerly anticipating the morning greetings of playful goats. I can already imagine these goats being characters, each with their own quirky personality, ready to bring laughter and a bit of unexpected fun into our lives. It’s not just about capturing the beauty around me with my camera; it’s about living it, immersing myself in it, and being a part of it.

February marks the start of something special – my wedding photography season. And what a start it is! The first wedding of 2024 is set against the enchanting backdrop of the Roman Baths. Can you imagine a more magical place to exchange vows? The blend of ancient history with the beauty of a modern love story is something I can’t wait to capture.

But it’s not just about the aesthetics. Moving to Cornwall has brought a sense of peace and balance. The slower pace of life here, combined with the joys and challenges of farm living, allows me to immerse myself more deeply in my work. Each photograph I take isn’t just a job; it’s a piece of a story, a captured emotion, a memory that will be treasured for a lifetime.

The view from our new home

Living here, I’ve found that it’s the simple moments that make the biggest impact. A family walk along the shore, the sun setting over the fields, the laughter and joy at a local wedding, and the playful antics of our chickens – these are the moments that truly matter. They remind us of the beauty of life, the power of nature, and the importance of love, family, and community.

Watching my teenagers adapt to life in Cornwall is an adventure in itself. They are currently embracing the change of pace, finding their own rhythm in this serene environment. It’s fascinating to see them exchange their previously busy schedules for explorations along the rugged coastline and interactions with the local community. They’re making new friends, learning to drive, thinking of trying out surfing, and even showing a keen interest in helping out on the farm. This shift isn’t just a relocation; it’s an opportunity for them to discover new passions, develop independence, and create their own unique Cornish adventures. I’m witnessing their personalities flourish in this open, natural landscape, and it’s truly heartwarming

Here’s to a year of beautiful moments, stunning scenery, farm adventures, and stories that will last a lifetime. Cornwall, you’re a breath of fresh air. Let the adventure begin!
