A Late Afternoon Wedding at The Lost Gardens of Heligan | Maia & Matt

An Intimate Italian Garden Wedding at The Lost Gardens of Heligan There are some venues that feel less like a location and more like a secret — places where the world outside the gate seems to fall away entirely. The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall is exactly that kind of place, and when Maia and Matt chose its intimate Italian Garden for their late afternoon wedding on 22nd September 2025, they gave themselves the most extraordinary backdrop: terracotta walls warm in the golden hour light, the rustle of wind through ancient trees, and the quiet trickle of a fountain threading through it all like a soundtrack. This was a small, intentional wedding — the kind where every detail is felt rather than performed. A Wedding That Felt Like Real Life From the very beginning, Maia and Matt were clear about what they wanted. Not stiff poses or formal lineups, but something alive. Movement. Laughter. The kind of photographs that feel like a memory rather than a record. They wanted images that moved — softened by breath and light — and moments that were genuinely happening, not arranged for the camera. That brief is the best kind to receive as […]

He Said Months of Planning. She Said Yes in Seconds. A Surprise Proposal at Marazion, Cornwall
27th May 2026 by Maryann Morris in Cornwall Wedding Photography 0 Comments

When Tay first got in touch, he was equal parts excited and terrified. He had a plan — a beautiful, meticulous, months-in-the-making plan — to propose to Beth on the beach at Marazion, in the shadow of St Michael’s Mount. He just needed a little help to pull it off. And pull it off he absolutely did. Planning the Perfect Cornwall Surprise Proposal Tay had chosen Marazion for a reason. There’s something genuinely magical about that stretch of beach — the ancient castle rising from the water, the wide open sand at low tide, the sense that you’re somewhere completely apart from the rest of the world. He wanted the backdrop to say everything he couldn’t quite find words for. We talked through the logistics, the timing, the light — and then we waited. The weeks leading up to the day, the nerves were real. As his photographer, I could feel the anticipation in every message. Is the tide going to be right? Will she suspect anything? That kind of careful, loving planning is one of my favourite things to be part of. The Day Itself — Marazion Beach, St Michael’s Mount The 10th of April brought with it a […]

Beth & Ash | An Eclectic Autumn Wedding at Wonwood Barton, Tavistock
20th May 2026 by Maryann Morris in Cornwall Wedding Photography 0 Comments

September 2025 | Wonwood Barton, Tavistock, Devon | Eclectic Wedding Photography There are weddings, and then there are weddings that make you drive home buzzing, already desperate to get into the edit. Beth and Ash’s day at Wonwood Barton in Tavistock was absolutely, definitively the second kind. I’ve photographed a fair few weddings now, and you develop a sense pretty quickly for the ones that are just going to feel different. From the moment I walked in to find the “Til Death” neon sign glowing red in the corner, a wild dried bouquet draped in black ribbon on the table, and a long-haired dachshund sitting at the door like he owned the place, I knew this was going to be a good day. Wonwood Barton, Tavistock, An Eclectic Couple’s Dream Venue If you’re planning a wedding in Devon and you want something with actual soul, Wonwood Barton in Tavistock should be on your radar. This place has everything, rough stone walls, flagstone floors, exposed timber beams, and enough fairy lights strung across the ceiling to make even a grey September afternoon feel warm and golden. It’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, and that’s exactly why couples like Beth […]
