After last weeks blog about making weddings more sustainable, I got to thinking about how I could do my part, while photography isn't inherently bad for the environment, I do feel that there's more I could be doing, I mean there's more we could ALL be doing.

Love is beautiful, forever and if we are lucky, lasts well beyond this lifetime. With that thought in mind, I want to talk about waste, and the lasting effect weddings have on our beautiful planet

Wedding documentary photography paints an entirely different picture of your big day compared to the conventional, set-up wedding photography shots. Where one offers carefully chosen backgrounds and posed subjects, the other allows the photographer freedom to move around the wedding, capturing moments rather than set pieces. I’m more than happy to do one, the other or a nice mix of both, however some people ask what the difference is so heres a rundown of the advantages of the less posed stuff – The freedom that a photographer enjoys with is reflected in the images they they’re able to capture, too. I met Danielle & Steve when I did a couples shoot with them (and their gorgeous dog, Pixie!) this summer. We strolled around Walton on the Naze, a beautiful seaside town in Essex, capturing photos of them all together on the beach and Pixie playing in the sea. I really enjoyed the day – we just clicked and found that we worked together really well. So, I was thrilled when, after seeing the images from their shoot, they asked me to photograph their wedding.  It’s always awesome to work with people you really like – and to photograph a couple so in love – but the added bonus here was that they married in Tenerife! Ideal! Danielle and Steve tied the knot at Villa Monoco in Playa Adeje, which was SUCH a beautiful setting. Adeje is inland with catci and mountains everywhere you look – supplying us the ideal backdrop. I took their bridal portraits at sunset, which is always a challenge – with an immense pay off. There’s nothing more romantic than a sunset shot, is there?!
