Why is photography so important to your brand?

Every business needs a brand identity. Whether you sell shoes, yoga or lollypops, who you are makes a difference to your customers – they have to like you, your ethos and get a feel for what you represent as a person not just a corporate entity.  Branding shows your customer you understand their needs. Good branding will represent a feel, is your business fun and lively? Mellow and harmonious? Or crisp clean and clear? The right photography will give your clients a clear feel for your business and reinforce your message to customers who want to buy what you’re offering.  The images you use make you instantly recogniseable. How many brands can you identify just by the style of the photography? Or how many magazines have you put in your basket because you was attracted to the print? Ok maybe I’m guilty of that last one, but I can’t be the only person to have done it. The right photography makes a difference, it makes people see you.  Why am I waffling on about this? Because alongside weddings I absolutely love making your vision for your business come to life. It makes my heart happy to give you a perfectly […]

Documentary photography…..
24th February 2019 by maryann in Uncategorised 0 Comments

Wedding documentary photography paints an entirely different picture of your big day compared to the conventional, set-up wedding photography shots. Where one offers carefully chosen backgrounds and posed subjects, the other allows the photographer freedom to move around the wedding, capturing moments rather than set pieces. I’m more than happy to do one, the other or a nice mix of both, however some people ask what the difference is so heres a rundown of the advantages of the less posed stuff – The freedom that a photographer enjoys with is reflected in the images they they’re able to capture, too. Your wedding album will become a flowing storyboard of your day, rather than a series of snapshots, each recalling a separate memory. You’ll end up with photographs of people looking their best, looking natural. There’s no forced posing or potential for awkwardness. Any attendees who are shy or anxious will be able to relax without the worry of having to pose for photographs, and the record of your wedding will be far brighter for having them in it. With documentary wedding photography, your photographer will be free to roam, to see things that they otherwise wouldn’t have noticed, capturing the […]

Beautiful prints!
8th May 2018 by maryann in Uncategorised 0 Comments

Photography isn’t just my job, it’s my passion. I studied Photography to degree level, and have trained and honed my aesthetic over a number of years. And still, through all those years, what I love above everything is print. Prints are beautiful. They are heirlooms, they are for sharing, for remembering and for reliving the moment they captured with your friends and family.  When I’m shooting, my focus is capturing moments you want to remember – I look out for memories being made between people that no-one else is seeing, so that, through my work, they can be shared with others. And I truly believe that the best way to appreciate these moments is in print. I offer a variety of post shoot products, including prints, canvases, albums… pretty much any which way you want your prints I will make it happen! Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the genius of digital photography and, of course, you will get digital images as well, but I do believe that your memories need to be something physical, not just a digital file stored on a computer only to be lost next time your PC crashes (*wail!*). Fairly frequently, I hear from clients and couples that “we’ll just go for the […]

Meet The Hendersons
3rd October 2017 by maryann in Couples, Uncategorised 0 Comments

I had the pleasure of photographing Ceri and Craig’s wedding back in July, but it didn’t end there. They invited me to come and take some newlywed images too.  We take photographs to commemorate or announce an engagement, to remember our wedding day and to mark other major milestones in life, but have you ever considered scheduling a newlywed photo shoot? Believe it or not, the popularity of newlywed photo sessions has been on the rise the past few years. Wondering why so many newly wedded couples are opting for a post-wedding photo shoot? There are plenty of reasons why brides and their grooms should put serious thought into how they document their first few days, weeks or months as Mr. and Mrs. One of the reasons why couples are choosing newlywed photo sessions is because they capture him and her in their natural “habitat”. Instead of posing for formal pictures or group shots, a newlywed photo shoot is much more intimate, which means it encapsulates the excitement shared between the two as they embark on the journey of married life. This also allows couples to involve themes and props that showcase the love between them, a mutual passion or […]
